Lima accounting firm donates 5,000 pounds of food

Nearly 5,000 pounds of food will be donated to Christian Corner Community Center to help hungry local families, thanks to Rea and Associates employees. Employees at the accounting firm's Lima office collected 4,916 pounds of food in their fifth annual food drive.

Legal fees to be squeezed under new accounting rules

Commercial lawyers already under pressure to reduce fees as the market worsens are facing a new challenge with the introduction of new accounting rules governing M&A transactions. The rules, which come into effect in June 2009, will force companies to change the way they account for the fees they pay to lawyers, bankers, accountants, recording such fees as a specific entry in their accounts.

Tax planning in corporate insolvency

A year in and the credit crunch continues to claim more victims. The Insolvency Service recently published statistics showing that corporate insolvencies have risen 11.6% during Q2 (compared to Q1) and the number of companies in administration is up 60% on the same time last year.

Tax planning may not be the immediate concern when companies are faced with the possibility of administration or even liquidation, but there are significant tax planning opportunities that should not be overlooked.

IPS To Introduce MBA Programmes

Professor Joshua Alabi, Acting Rector of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), said the Institute would introduce Masters in Business Administration programmes from next year if all requirements are met.
