          Loopt, the mobile social network which is backed by Sequoia and NEA, has filed a lawsuit against Loop'd Network, a social network for action sports athletes and enthusiasts, over alleged trademark infringement, alleging that the two names are too similar and cause confusion. Loopt is asking the court to enjoin Loop'd Network from continuing to use the name, and is also seeking damages and three times the profit that Loop'd Network has earned, PEHub reports.

          Yahoo is integrating new applications in an effort to help the world's biggest Internet media company keep pace with social networks like Facebook and MySpace. Yahoo plans to make it easier for users to share information about themselves with other users and on websites that run its new features.
          Second to the iPhone 2.0 announcement (and maybe the Yahoo-Google deal), what was the most important event of last week? The start of Euro 2008 tournament of course! So if you’re going to soft-launch a football oriented social network like Footbo.com, this is the month to do it (the tournament runs throughout June). Footbo is the type of niche-oriented social network we have grown accustomed to. From a feature perspective there’s no attempt to reinvent the social network experience—in fact, the current interface doesn’t offer any Ajax/DHTML/CSS pizzazz.
          By their nature, they invite competition because the user base is only as interested as the number of friends they have (which eventually slows in growth) and the number of things they can do (which can feature creep people to death).
