In one of my alternative lives I am the organizer of the Third Thursday New York meetup. Third Thursday is for PR and marketing folks interested in sharing and learning about the practical applications of social media in business.
Third Thursday meetups typically include guest speakers who talk for about 20-30 mins with the group about different social media technologies and trends -- and how these topics apply to PR and marketing programs. Our goal is to encourage group discussion and learning, and we do this by keeping our meetups very casual and open, but focused so that our members walk away with new insights and actionable ideas for their businesses.
Third Thursday is also an opportunity to network with industry peers, to share knowledge, experiences and perhaps a few drinks too. So, if you're working in the NYC area and could benefit from some healthy discussion about new media marketing and communications, please join us for Third Thursday.
