The University of Massachusetts-Lowell secured more than $1 million in grants to increase diversity within the school’s nursing program. Most of the funding, which was sought by nursing faculty, was a U.S. Department of Health grant for $894,085 to support a three-year program to attract minorities and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to the school’s nursing program. UMass-Lowell also received more than $180,000 from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for a pre-entry recruitment program.
